The other day while I was out and about preparing for an out of town guest I noticed something – something very pleasant actually. It was past 5 pm and I could still stand outside and enjoy a setting sun. That means days are getting longer and the doldrums of winter are moving behind us – finally.

Your own Oscar opportunity
That doesn’t mean though that I have any more hours in the day to complete everything I want/need to but we can’t have it all – greedy, greedy.
I’ve not posted anything for the last week and it has bothered me profusely! I’ve been busy getting my house ship shape for our guest whom we had never met in person (good first impressions are even more important then) and my writing has taken over the other few levels of energy I’ve kept in reserve for those activities but I do have a few things I’ll be posting shortly which I’ve been putting together in spurts.
At the moment I’m spreading myself between playing the proper “mom” hostess as one of my children have a friend visiting from out of town and assignments have been rolling in to keep me occupied as well. I’m totally Spring ready and the only thing I really expect to accomplish once it rolls in is to clean my badly weather spattered windows but that’s something I neither wish to dwell on nor even consider at this point!
In the wings I’ve got a few things I’ve been putting together in bits and pieces as time has allowed so I will be back to posting on a more regular basis next week once I’m again back to just plain ole “mom”. I’ve also got a new camera (yay) so will have some pics up of some of the things I’ve been working on in between everything else.
I did take a bit of time to source out a few things this morning and discovered a site called LoveToKnow.com which from all indications appears to be a good site for those who are a little newer to the freelance writing arena and are seeking to gain further experience before moving on to other higher paying opportunities. The admissions process is somewhat lengthy requiring sample articles but from my understanding, they pay promptly, they are a great group of people to work with and you never know, you may really enjoy this opportunity. Some writers have remained with them for a number of years so that says something about the caliber involved.
One place you must check out if you are interested in personal experience writing! Cup of Comfort is a new website that promises to be around for some time to come. They publish beautiful books based on true experiences and cover a range of human emotions, trials, triumphs and heart warming events all wrapped within writers stories. You can read some of the excellent writing on-site and currently they have a call for submissions for their Cup of Comfort for Fathers publication with submission deadline being April 1, 2009. The staff is excellent, very dedicated and this is a wonderful way to get your work shown in a professional, very uplifting manner. I highly recommend both the opportunity and their books.
Here’s a little twist on the Valentine’s Day trail – and it can garner you a gorgeous sterling silver ring or pendant from Remist.com. Personally, I’d love to own the Bamboo ring – gorgeous! Although this is a little close to the deadline which is February 15, 2009 – they are looking for stories about your “Worst Valentine’s Day Gift Ever!” I don’t have any of those but perhaps you may have one or two you fondly remember. Get your best story in by the deadline and you could win one of these gorgeous items.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, as the day of love, romance and all things stuffed and cuddly creeps up on us I hope everyone finds themselves in the company of loved ones who mean the world to them and who hear it every day. Enjoy the festivities, make someone’s heart pitter patter and I’ll be back again with some new posts next week!
