Imagine a world without an imagination! How bland! Almost as tasteless as some morning coffees I’ve had. People consider me ‘fortunate’ that I have the ability to visualize things that aren’t even there…the Medical community might see that differently but I consider my imagination as a gift. Sometimes it’s too much of a gift, but I would be lost without the ability to ’see’ what others don’t.
When I choose to do a drawing for instance, the paper or canvas before me (or even my computer screen) may be blank to others but I can already visualize what will appear there long before I’ve made my first stroke of a pencil, paintbrush or tablet stylus. Those times when I’m really ‘tuned-in’ I can actually follow the image almost as though it has been outlined already. My oldest daughter creates many of her drawings with the same ability.
Over the next while I am going to do my best to actually reveal some of my work here. Now this is a huge deal for me because normally I don’t even announce to anyone that I am creating something. Depending upon whether or not I remember to take photos of my progress will dictate as to which projects you will be able to perhaps follow along with as I do them. WIP efforts have usually failed for me simply because once I start something I either do it asap and don’t want to lose that drive or it languishes in a corner of the upstairs family room, the master bedroom or as of late, on my dining room table.
For now, I’ll have to hunt down some of the photos I’ve actually remembered to take of Commission work I’ve done for a few people. So if you’re interested, pop back in over the next week or so and perhaps I’ll be able to make time in between my ‘kids taxi’ service, web and blog development and Chief Cook and Bottle-washer ‘jobs’.
Enjoy whatever may be left of your day –
