I came across a site recently that convinced me that my desire to take up Airbrushing, adding yet another realm of creativity to my already over-flowing repertoire, is one that might not be nearly as intimidating as I have always assumed it would be. That’s exciting news for me!
According to Dru Blair, an incredibly talented artist and teacher, it’s actually best when deciding to take one of his workshops, to have never even picked up an Airbrush before… now that’s reason enough for me to get pumped!
Airbrushing has been an art that I’ve envied in others for so long now (including my own husband), that I’ve actually convinced myself up until now, that I’d be wasting not only my money, but my time in trying to undertake this art form…and there is no doubt about it…it IS an art form. After reading Dru Blair’s information my eagerness to go for this new venture has just increased 10 fold.
My husband has been in the painting industry now for many years. He currently owns a very successful business which just 3 years ago was only an idea in the mind of his business partner who was then looking for a way to overcome the drawbacks he was dealing with as a Client of another local industrial paint Company. For the past few weeks I’ve been investigating the industry, reading up on the various and numerous Airbrushes out there (and there are many), as well as taking in as much as my brain will soak up about techniques, tips and more. I’ve narrowed down my tool of choice (I think) to the new Paasche Talon Double-action, gravity feed brush. So far I haven’t found one that comes in under $150, at least not in my area, but according to my ‘expert’ the price isn’t too terrible. My husband has the same view that Dru Blair seems to take in that it isn’t so much the tool as the hand that guides the tool that makes the difference.
Later today, I’ll be off to the local Art store to make my purchase. Not without some trepidation still however. Over the next little while, as I investigate the tool a bit more, test it out, prove just how inept I might be in the art
, I’ll be posting additional information and if I get brave, even a bit of my ‘trial by fire’ attempts.
Stay tuned, you may just find some of the laughs you’ve been looking for, right here!
